I was a long time coworker of Ivy at American General and fondly remember his kind nature, vast knowledge and skills. Prayers of peace for his family.

I just heard today.  It is with a smile that I remember Ivy.  I worked with him at American General after I came there in 1986.  For a time he was my Director or VP in training.  Like others, I must also say a gentleman and a scholar he was!  He was a kind man, and I could always rely on his knowledge and wisdom.  I learned a lot from him.  Oh, yes!  I kept and referred to his Restaurant Review list for some time for recommending places for lunch!  

My condolences to Ivy's friends and family for your loss.  I know there must be rejoicing in heaven!

It is with sadness I learned of Ivy's passing. He and I worked together at American General, and traveled together to watch A&M football games. My sincere condolences to Melinda and Ivy's family.

 My sister Jimmie Nell and Curtis Gough lived by Uncle Hansford and Aunt Mary in Louisiana. My dads name Gus and Bernice Gough, we played together in the piney woods and along the Blue Spring stream to cool off. After moving to Texas in 1943 my dad and mother visited the Branan family in Houston area, It has been years that I have not heard any news of the family . Mary Ellen was just a small little girl back then. I am sorry for your loss and join you in your sorry, my wife of 64 years passed in October. May the Lord Keep your memory of Iverson sharp and clear for your Joy to be Blessed.

Ivy was one of the finest men I have ever known.  It was a pleasure to have worked with him at American General.
It is not surprising that American General kept him for 49 years,  They are probably wishing that he were still there.

Ivy has been a presence in my life as long as I can remember. He was always kind, gentlemanly in appearance and demeanor, and an avid reader. I can still picture him in the small library in the front room of the house on Southgate, in a wing chair, legs crossed, pipe in hand, reading one of the many books from his collection. While his collection and library grew over the years, it was in that library that I stayed for a summer visit during my childhood. While enjoying a late night bowl of ice cream, Ivy asked what I was reading (the book "The Twenty-One Balloons"), and then he began asking questions about the book. As an 11-year-old, I had not considered that reading should be more than just for fun, and the questions he asked were the beginning of an understanding that there was more to be gained from reading than merely entertainment. I am often grateful for that gift, still to this day. I will miss him. I am so sad for you, Aunt Melinda, Andrew & Betsy, and your families. My prayers go out to you all.

I worked for Ivy many years ago at American General.  Great memories of a wonderful man.  I am so glad I was able to visit with him over lunch a few years ago. It was fun to catch up with a friend I had not seen in a while.

We have many fond memories of shared times with Ivy over the past 50+ years, whether traveling together through England, Scotland, & the Scandinavian countries, or visiting at the Texas Hill Country home over-looking Fredericksburg. Ivy was a gentleman & a scholar, having collected an impressive book library over many years. Mild-mannered, & kindly, he possessed a subtle & droll sense of humor that made one smile.  Bob & I will miss him always.

Ivy was a good friend and "BOSS"....He will be missed....R. I. P.

Our dear Uncle Iverson was an exceptional combination of kindness and strength.  We cherish his memory and will always miss him.

I am so glad I made a connection with my cousin Iverson a few years back and through our e-mails we discussed our families and what happened in our lives since our youth. He enjoyed reading the family stories I have written and through them we enjoyed a lot of good memories. Virginia and I send our deepest sympathies to Melinda, and the families of Andrew and Betsy along with his sisters Nancy and Mary Ellen.

Iverson (Ivy) was the best boss a person can ever have.  He loved life, his family and all his many friends and he will be missed by so many.  It has been a true honor to be considered part of his family for so many years and to have been so welcomed at his retirement house when in Fredericksburg.  He will always remain in my heart as one of my best friends.  Prayers go out to his entire family.
