James D. "Dewitt" Clark, 92, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 30, 1933, in Alabama, later raised in Altha, Florida, and ultimately made Texas his lifelong home. He lived many years in Houston before settling in Livingston, where he spent his later life surrounded by family and friends.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army, completing two years of honorable service. Following his military years, he dedicated more than 40 years to steel manufacturing with General Electric, where he was known for his strong work ethic, steady hands, and unwavering commitment.
Outside of work, James found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved watching sports, especially football reminiscing about his All-Conference high school days, shooting pool, gardening, enjoying the outdoors with his animals, and spending cherished time with his family.
His gentle humor, easygoing spirit, and warm presence made him loved by all who knew him.
James is survived by his daughters Shelba Seltenrich and Cindy Giacona and her husband, Frank; grandchildren Danna Davis and husband Mike, James Giacona and wife Karla, and Derek Redd and wife Madison; and great-grandchildren Micheal Davis, Robert Davis, Ashton Davis, Sterling Redd, Briar Redd, and Bristol Redd. He is also survived by close family friends Consuelo, Anais, Alejandra, and Luis Zumaya, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, his Roswell St. family, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Effie Clark; brother Charlie Clark; sisters Nobie Rabon and Betty Deese; his beloved wife and the love of his life, Myrtis Clark; daughter Pam Sims; and son-in-law Stan Seltenrich.
James will be remembered for his loyalty, kindness, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
