Born July 30, 1929. Died March 3, 2014
Known as “Paw Paw” by his grandchildren, Leonard Parker, age 84, was born in Chita, Texas to James Moody and Manilla Agnes (Dodd) Parker. He was married to Beverly Ann Meadows Parker. They were the parents of three children. Leonard was one of 8 children. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Beverly and sisters Ima Wooley, Helen Shaver and Mildred Fuchs. He is survived by his children, Ronald Parker, Melinda Parker, Patricia and her husband Cary Cargill and his grandsons, Christopher Cargill, Cameron Cargill and Colby Cargill. He is also survived by his brother Clyde Parker, his sisters Hazel Fuller and her husband Arlis, Delia (Dee) Nellene Coogler and her husband James (J.D.) and Shirley Morgan. Leonard served his country in the U.S. Army. He moved to Houston in July 1948, where he met his future wife, Beverly Ann Meadows. They raised their family in Pasadena, Texas. Leonard worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Plant Operations for most of his adult life until retirement on August 1, 1994. He was a person that could repair almost anything and he enjoyed helping other people who needed his help. His church in Houston, the Church of God on Wayside, was where he worshipped and did volunteer work to keep the facility in good condition. Leonard was a 50+ year Mason at Cade-Rothwell Lodge No. 1151. Leonard enjoyed going home to Chita in his spare time. He was raised there and attended the Chita Baptist Church. His God and his family were reason for living and he will be remembered as a good man who worked hard to take care of his family and who lived a life of faithfulness to his church, his family and his many friends. Heaven is rejoicing at his homecoming as we mourn our loss. May he rest in peace.
