She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. (Joe) Gamino, son Joseph (Joey) Jr. his wife Kelly, daughter Rebecca (Becky) Hoover her husband Kelly, four grandchildren, Taylor, Hannah, Elizabeth and Daniel. Two sisters Adelina Gonzales and Dora Torres and one brother Eugene Martinez.
Joe, her husband of more than 56 years said that they met on a blind date soon after he returned from serving in the U.S Marine Corps in May of 1958. After a courtship of more than two years, he proposed marriage and she accepted. They were married in September of 1961.
Joe said that whatever success he may have had he owed to his wife, Janie. For she was a devoted and faithful wife who supported him strongly during his career with the Houston Police Department. To Joe she exemplified the Virtuous wife mentioned in Proverbs 31:10-31. To him she was worth more than rubies, he had full confidence in her and lacked nothing. She brought him good and not harm all the days of her life. She got up early every day and provided food for her family.
Janie was a member of Iglesia Bautista Houston for many years. She taught Sunday school and participated in many fundraisers to benefit the church and its youth.
