Janie D. Longoria was called home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2016 at the age of 69. Born on December 21, 1946 in Houston, Texas she is preceded in death by her parents Frank P. and Janie V. Delgado and her siblings Rosemary Bargas, Frank Delgado, Jr. and Dolores Rodriguez.
Janie was an exceptional wife, mother, sister and friend. She believed anyone could win in life and exhibited that belief each time she traveled east to try her luck at the beckoning casinos. Janie had a wonderful sense of humor, which almost always gave way to her contagious laugh. She took time to appreciate the beauty surrounding her and sought to enhance it through her love of gardening. Janie especially cherished moments with her grandchildren, whether it was vacationing with them or gathered around the Christmas tree watching as they sat wide-eyed eagerly opening each present. She had the remarkable ability to make those near and dear to her feel special and welcomed into her home. Through her everyday actions she taught the importance of putting family first, having patience when life moves swiftly, giving without the expectation of receiving, and most importantly loving unconditionally. May we honor her by sharing that same unyielding love in our own lives.
Janie is survived by her loving husband Wallace Robert Longoria, her four devoted children and their spouses, Robert and Veronica Longoria, Debra Rose Longoria, Diane Longoria, Denise and Jose Lopez, her dear sister Ana Hernandez, her adoring grandchildren Robert Anthony Longoria, Rene Carbajal, Ashley Carbajal, Joshua Longoria, Victoria Moreno, Frank Longoria, Carolyn Moreno, Joseph Almanza, John Michael Longoria, Eric Lopez, Janie Lopez, Luck Longoria-Cruz, her precious great-grandchildren, Corbin Baham and expected soon Liliana Carbajal, and her treasured dog Sasha. Visitation will be from 5pm to 9pm with a Rosary to be held at 7pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. Funeral services will begin at 8:30am with mass at ll:00am on June 22, 2016. Reception will immediate follow. All services will take place at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX 77023.
