Jean was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on June 29, 1933 to Will and Dorothy Clarke. After graduating from Clasen High School in Oklahoma City, OK, she married her high school sweetheart, Orlan Ray McClung, on November 17th, 1951 in Oklahoma City, OK.
Jean was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was immensely proud of her family and always wanted them to be happy in life. She was an active member of Tallowood Baptist Church, since 1971. She enjoyed attending the Enduring Faith connect group and helping at the “Am I my brother’s keeper” sewing group.
Jean is survived by her husband of 69 years, Orlan; her 3 children, Clarke McClung & wife Leslie Horsch, Cheryl Van Dyke & husband Robert, and Cindy Nichols & husband Ed; her five grandchildren, Christina Mistich, Jessica McCullars, Robbie Van Dyke, Jodie Nichols, and Jackson Nichols; and her great grandchildren, Harper Mistich, Margo Mistich, and Rosalie McCullars due in October. Jean is also survived by her sister, Suellen Clarke Davis, and nephew Greg Davis.
Family and friends will gather and celebrate this wonderful woman's life during a committal service at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17th at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston, 77038, (281) 447-8686. For those attending services at Houston National, please do not arrive earlier that 8:45 a.m. and no later 8:55a.m., at that time we will park in lane 1 to be in proper position for the procession to the committal pavilion.
