My mother was a lovely woman. She embodied all of the attributes of a perfect mom. She was caring, thoughtful, hardworking, compassionate, and loving and so much more. My mother was my mentor, idol and friend.  She was a strong person and this strength shone through during her fight with cancer. Even though she was in tremendous pain she always remained strong and never wanted attention focused on her disease. She wanted everyone to continue on with their lives and was more concerned with how we were doing and if we were happy.

My mother worked hard to raise her family and even though she worked outside the home, in a time when many Moms' didn't she was always there for us when we needed her. She made sure that we studied hard and were enrolled in a variety of activities, which she always took us to. When I was younger I wasn't able to comprehend how much time and care she put into her family. Now that I have grown children of my own I can truly appreciate the amount of effort she put in to raising us and for this I will always be appreciative.

I learned a lot from my mother. I learned how important family is, I learned how to cook southern foods, and even learned that when someone asked if you made something bought from a store, you said YES because you “made” it all the way home with it! I learned to work hard and play even harder. I learned how important a strong work ethic is and how remaining positive can help us get through life's biggest challenges.

I will miss her greatly but know she is with her loved ones who preceded her in death and I will be with her again someday.

Most importantly I know I have an AMAZING guardian angel by my side!
