Jeannine S. Trethewey

Jeannine was born to Glenn Weldon Smith and Mildred Miles Smith on July 22, 1933 in Boone Prairie, Texas. She was an adored only child.

Jeannine attended Reagan High School in Houston Heights, where she was an honor student and a drill team majorette. After graduation from Reagan in 1952, she attended Baylor University, where she studied elementary school education and graduated after only three years with her elementary school teaching certification. While at Baylor, she met her loving husband, John Orrin Trethewey. They married in April of 1955. John pursued a career as a Navy officer and then special agent with the FBI, while Jeannine was devoted to their home and family and to raising their two children, Shannon and John Jeffrey. She enjoyed cooking and creating a beautiful home for her family. John and Jeannine were married for more than 68 years, until his passing on June 6, 2023. They were joyfully reunited in Heaven only four months later.

Jeannine is survived by both her children, Shannon VanHorn Haas (husband Richard Haas), John Jeffrey Trethewey (wife Tori Gotthilf Trethewey) and by grandchildren John Robert Palmer, Dane Britton Van Horn (wife Sara Schultz), Kelsie Skye Trethewey and Garrett Paul Trethewey (wife Courtney Scarborough Trethewey) and by great grandchildren Liam Janske, Eliel Palmer and Jaxon, Brooks and Bryce Trethewey.
