Jessica was a proud lifelong Houstonian and Texan, born April 24, 1980, to Joel Kenneth Marquis and Evangeline Isabel Marquis. She graduated from Bellaire High School and later attended the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service.
Jessica built a distinguished career with Dignity Memorial, advancing from sales to staff funeral director, location manager, and ultimately general manager. She served at several respected locations, including Brookside Champions Funeral Home, Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery, and most recently Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery. She was devoted to providing exceptional care to families in need and was deeply committed to mentoring others, leaving a lasting legacy through the many professionals she inspired.
Jessica was active in organizations close to her heart, including The 100 Club, Wreaths Across America, and the Dignity LIFT (Living Information For Today) Program, and she was a member of both the Texas Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association.
In 2003, Jessica met the love of her life, Elmer Amensen. Together they raised two beloved sons, Zachary and Matthew, who were the center of her world. Jessica lived with strength, courage, and a generous heart, never hesitating to speak her mind or show her love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Isabel Marquis. She is survived by her husband of twenty years, Elmer; her sons, Zachary and Matthew; her stepsister, Gigi Mojica; her brother, Clyde Marquis; and her nieces and nephews, Alex Mojica, Priscilla Vega, Angie Mojica, and Jonathan Marquis.
