Jessie Lee Cheeves

Mrs. Jessie Lee Cheeves was born April 10, 1932 in Hempstead, Texas to Allen and Navada Williams. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Houston, Texas and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Studewood, Texas. Later she married Leon Cheeves August 21, 1950, of this union a daughter, Lona Carolyn and a son, Kevin was born. She later became a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Acres Home. She was a dedicated member of St. Andrews for over 45 years. She served as Church Delegate to Annual Conference, SPR Chairperson, Administrative Council Chair, Children Sunday School Teacher and Children Coordinator. She also served on several boards of the Texas Conference, Church Women United, Interfaith Ministries Board and on the DS Finance Committee under Dr. Lamar Smith in North District. She was a dedicated member of United Methodist Women. She served in the Local Unit as President, Vice President and Secretary; District (North Support Community and Program Resource; (Northwest) Vice President and Member Nomination Committee on the Conference level. Her parents Mr. and Mrs. Allen Williams, brothers - J. T. Randall, Ivory Williams and R. C. Sampson and sister Caroline Williams, preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Lona Siner and son Kevin Cheeves, Sr. both of Houston, Texas; grandsons - Deron Siner (Christine), Kevin Cheeves, Jr. (Buffalo, New York); great grandchildren - Corral Lipkins, Devin Siner and Dylan Siner. In addition, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
