Jewell Naomi Henderson

Jewell Naomi Henderson was born to the parents of Marion Smith and Bertha C. Johnson on August 10, 1922 in Houston, Texas.   Jewell received her education and graduated from Gregory Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School (Class of 1938). She also attended Houston College.   Jewell ater joined in holy matrimony on January 17, 1942 with Bernard Joseph Henderson her high school classmate. To this union was born a baby girl Bernadette Henderson who preceded them in death at an early age.   Early in life, Jewell confessed her belief in Christ, and was baptized by the late Reverend J. R. Burdette of Bethel Baptist Church.   Jewell and Bernard moved to the state of California in 1942 where they resided until 1948. That year, they returned to Houston and built a home.   Jewell and Bernard  joined Concord Baptist Church in Houston. In 1979 Jewell served  as Secretary of the Sunday School at Concord under Bernard Henderson who was General Superintendent of the Sunday School.   Jewell Henderson entered into eternal rest on February 24, 2016. She was preceded in death by: her baby girl, Bernadette, her mother,Bertha C. Johnson, her father, Marion Smith, her brother, Clifton E.Smith, and sisters, Marion Kerr, and Willie L. Barnes.   She leaves to mourn her homegoing a loving brother, Louis C. Williams, and a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
