Joan Marie Brockman Bohannan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt, was called to be with her Lord and Savior on April 10th, 2018, after a long, hard, and courageous fight with cancer. She was 82 years old. Joan was born February 19, 1936, in Houston, Texas to Dennis Benjamin Brockman and Velma Rutledge Brockman.
Joan attended Lutheran High School in Houston, Texas, where she met her first husband, Lyndal Ray Ivie. They had three boys; Bradley Mark, Dennis Gregory, and Jon Matthew Ivie. Joan and Ray later divorced and she went to work fulltime as a secretary with Service Corporation International and King Wilkinson. She was always thinking about her children and was dedicated and totally devoted to her family. At the age of 41, Joan married John Wesley Bohannan at Salem Lutheran Church in White Hall, Texas. They truly loved each other and were soul mates for the last 41 years. Their favorite destination was to their second home along the East prong of the Nueces River near Uvalde.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Velma; son, Dennis Gregory Ivie; sister, Denise Thorne, daughter in laws; Teresa and Sheila Ivie; grandson, Dennis Gregory Ivie Jr. She is survivied by a loving and close-knit family which includes her husband, John Bohannan, sons; Brad Ivie and Jon Ivie and his wife Dana, grandsons; Brock and Brandon Ivie and his wife TJ, and their children, Baker and Chloe; niece, Lorrie Thorne Hartnett and husband Randy.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 13, 2018, 10AM - 11AM at the Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd. Funeral Service will follow at 11AM. Interment will be held Saturday, 2pm, at Dilley Cemetery in Dilley, Texas.
