

Joe Johnson was born February 5, 1927 in Henrietta, Texas to Charlie Luther Johnson and Rosa Sharon Williford Johnson. He passed away on January 13, 2025 at Clearwater Retirement Residence in Houston, Texas. Joe is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marjory Luella Smith Johnson, his sons Mark Edward Johnson and wife, Bonnie and John Bradley Johnson and wife, Lisa, five grandchildren, Kristopher Johnson and wife Juliana, Brian Johnson and wife Megan, Allison Paquette and husband Austen, Laurel Browning and husband Jason, and Dusty Johnson, five great grandchildren, Liam Browning, Teddy Johnson, Rory Browning, Graham Johnson and Georgia Paquette and many nieces, nephews and close friends,
Shortly before Joe’s graduation ceremony from Stoneburg High School he joined the Merchant Marines during World War II. After serving two years in the Merchant Marines he began his career with Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Company but in 1950 he was again called to serve his country during the Korean War. He served two years in the army stationed in Germany. In 1952 he went back to work for Halliburton and had a forty year career that he enjoyed and was proud of.
Faith, family and friends were very important to Joe. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Richardson since 1976 where he enjoyed many volunteer hours. Joe’s membership in the Apostle class and the Men’s Weekly Bible Study were very important to him. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and football. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Joe’s memorial service will be held on February 8, 2025 at Heights Funeral Home at 1317 Heights Blvd, Houston, TX 77008. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Richardson, 503 N. Central Expressway, Richardson, TX 75080 or to the memorial of your choice.
