John Adams

On May 29, 2016, John(o) Adams was called to join God and those before him. John(o) was born on April 6, 1923 in Sunset, Louisiana to Francois Adams and Regina Lastrappe Adams.  He was one of ten children. He married Bernetha Citizen Adams on October 9, 1953 and they remained united for 62 years. From this union came 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.     John will always be remembered as a hard worker, a protector, a fighter and provider for many in his family. As a young man, he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country in World War II.  Though his education was cut short, he later started a successful business from the ground up in which he provided many jobs and opportunities to family and friends. He enjoyed being surrounded by family, the outdoors, gardening, talking on the phone and keeping everyone on their toes. John was preceded in death by his wife, Bernetha Citizen Adams; one son, Hilton Adams; his parents Francois and Regina Adams; two (2) sisters, Mary Charles and Theresa Adams; six (6) brothers, Joseph Adams, Robert Adams, Harold Adams, Frank Adams, Edward Adams and Preston Adams. He leaves to cherish his memories: one (1) son, Bartholomew Adams; two (2) daughters, Regena Johnson (Jesse Johnson) and Sylvia Adams; eight (8) grandchildren, Christopher N. Adams (Christina Hence), Shavonn Jackson-Crook (Michael Crook), Jessica Mitchell (Joe Mitchell), Krystal Johnson, Maya Adams, Joshua Adams, Jacob Adams, and Joseph Adams; five (5) great grandchildren, Taylor Jackson, Christin Adams, Christopher H. Adams, Anthony Mitchell, Addison Mitchell, and Christian Adams; two (2) sisters, Viola Johnson and Adeline Insell and a host of other loving relatives.
