

John Lee Banks was the first born to Jackson Banks Sr. and Oleivie Banks. He was born on February 2, 1945. John attended George Washington Carver High School. He was involved in many curricular activities, cooking, agriculture, Track, and woodshop. Later in life John worked at several different jobs, he finally found the one he loved Carpentry. He enjoyed building, repairing, drawing clocks and building them. If you had the pleasure of getting him to work for you, he always tried to give you, his best. He also enjoyed cooking for family and friends, especially his famous greens. If you had a conversation with him, he would talk about the bible. He learned that the bible held a hope for mankind. He found out that God’s purpose for mankind was to be perfect and live on a paradise earth once again. He learned from the bible that those who have fallen asleep in death will awaken again. He had many questions for Doris and Dennis Davis and they gave him his answers from his bible. He then built a relationship with the author of the bible Jehovah God, and he dedicated his life to him on June 5, 1976.
John saw me one night at a dinner after the Memorial of Christ death and he said to himself that’s going to be my wife.
John was working one day at a sisters’ house Rose would visit all the time, he asked her who I was. She wanted to get us together. John said no that he would talk to me and ask for my number. He did just that and after some time dating, he came and asked my parents to marry me. Then he finally asked me. John and I got married June 29,2002 we were married 21 years. His battle with illness this year from January to July was very hard on him he fought as long as he could but on July 26, early morning he lost his fight.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his children: John Lee Banks Jr., (La Kecia); Patrick Willis Banks (Tesima); his daughter: Yolunda S.Washington (Bunny); Stepson-John B. Dixon Jr. His brother and sister: Alfred E.Banks (Audrey); Jacqueline Banks Lewis (William); Larry M. Banks; Henry L. Banks (Carolyn); Johnny E. Banks; Arthur Banks; Sister-in-Laws: Hattie Gamble; Donna Banks; Valerie Smith (Charles); Angela Jefferson (Julian); Beverly Jones and Brother-in-Law: Anthany J. Foote (Janice). Many Nieces, nephews, grandchildren and one Great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his sister: Verna Banks, his brothers: Howard Banks; Jackson Banks; His Parents: Jackson Bank Sr.& Oleivie Banks.
