John William Ireland passed away on August 17th, 2012, in Longview, Texas at the age of 62, He was born on December 19th, 1949, in Houston, Texas, to Raymond Joseph and Mary Doris Meek Ireland. He is survived by his brother Raymond Joseph Ireland, Jr. M.D. and wife Linda, sister Arlise Lucille Ireland Wilson and husband Robert and five nephews, Joe, Nick, Patrick, Bobby and Michael.
John earned BS/MS degrees in Geology. His career involved both international and domestic oil and gas exploration and development projects. He was especially proud of his offshore Africa project. He was trained and very interested in water conservation and procurement.
He loved all things Western...the stories, the books and movies, the beautiful landscape, the rocks, cacti and the people who roamed, lived and settled the west.
John loved his family, his pets, the earth in all its beauty and bounty and his God.
