John W. Robinson Jr. September 25, 1932 – February 25, 2026 John W. Robinson Jr., 93, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, faith, and deep love for his family.
Born on September 25, 1932, in Coffeeville, Alabama, to John W. Robinson Sr. and Madie Lee Virginia Pugh, John grew up with a strong, grounded spirit. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959, enjoying a memorable station in Hawaii during his service. A talented mechanic by trade, John was a dependable, hardworking man who could fix just about anything with his own two hands. When he wasn't working, he found his greatest peace in the quiet of nature as an avid fisherman and hunter. His life was also beautifully guided by his faith. As a devoted member of the Memorial Church of Christ, he built a wonderful community and shared enduring fellowship with those around him.
More than anything, John cherished his family. His spirit and love will live on through his devoted children, John A. Robinson and Karen Gray; his dear sister, Mary Kovar; and his treasured grandchildren, Payton Gray and his wife Laura, Savannah Irby and her husband Bradley, Jackson Gray, Kirby Robinson, and Karson Robinson. He also leaves behind the sweetest joys of his later years, his great-grandchildren, Baker and Daisy Irby. John is now joyfully reunited with his parents; six of his seven siblings; his beloved first wife, Reta Hornsby Robinson; and his beloved second wife, Garnetta Gibson Robinson, who all preceded him in death.
Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate John’s remarkable life. A viewing will be held on March 3rd from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Waltrip Funeral Home, 1415 Campbell Road, Houston, TX 77055. A memorial service will take place the following day, March 4th, at 11:00 AM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
