He grew up in Houston with his 3 brothers and a sister. He worked as a mechanic. He enjoyed fishing and racing cars his entire adult life.
He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Staruska, his parents William J. and Ruby L. Staruska and his brother Eddie G. Staruska.
He is survived by brothers Kenneth and Pam Staruska, Michael and Angela Staruska; his sister Neda Floyd and sister in law Barbara Staruska. He is also survived by his stepchildren Robbi Pierce, Jayni McCaleb, Alvin and Deborah Thompson and Johnny and Rosie Welch. Also, many nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
We would like to give special thanks to the First Choice Hospice Care and James Patterson for all their care and help in John’s final days.
A visitation will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, located at 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, on December 18, 2025, from 9:00 am to 9:50 am.
The committal service will follow at the same address, 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am.
