Jon David Motley

Jon David Motley, passed unexpectedly on July 12, 2013 at his home in Pearland, TX. Jon was born in Denver City, Texas on March 23, 1956 as the second in a family of three boys. The family moved from West Texas to Houston where Jon attended Spring Woods High School and played basketball. His love of basketball extended throughout his life as a big Rockets fan and a player of ‘Horse’ with his children and grandchildren. Jon also loved to fish, especially on the Texas coast or at his Grandpa’s favorite spot in the Hill Country. Jon lived in Houston, Austin and New Mexico during his life. He was a talented contractor and worked most of his life as a general contractor.

Jon is survived by many children and stepchildren. His daughter Joi and husband Garrett Jones of Austin, Jennifer and Joseph Bridges of Houston, Michael Motley of Austin, Maralee and husband Cristian Granucci of Los Angeles, Eric Small of Houston, and Jessica Beason of Houston. His many grandchildren, nieces and nephews were the great joy of his life. He is survived by his brothers Jim and wife Patty Motley and Jay and wife Tracy Motley and his father Jim Motley, all of Houston. He is preceded in death by his mother, Jane Motley, who will help to welcome him into heaven. We will miss him dearly.

A memorial service was held in the Hankamer Chapel at Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Dr. on Saturday July 20th at 11AM.
