

On Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at Methodist Hospital West in Katy, Texas the humble spirit of Jones LaVelle Perkins went home to be with the Lord. He embarked on his journey to that city where pain and suffering will be no more.
I could not stay another day to love, laugh, work, or play. Tasks undone must stay that way. I have found that place at the close of the day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it now with remembered joy, a friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, all things I too shall miss. My life been full, I savored much, good friends, good times, and loved by my loved ones touch. Lift up your hearts and share with me. God wanted me now, he has set me free.
Jones was born July 27, 1948 in Ruston, La to the parentage of the late Claude and Odell Perkins. He grew up in Houston, Texas in the Carverdale of Fairbanks community. He graduated from Carverdale High School June 1, 1967. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Jarvis Christian College, in Hawkins, Texas. He was employed with Chicago Bridge and Iron Company, The Room Store and the Houston Chronicle. In his youth he attended GreaterMacedonia Baptist Church. He was very athletic in his youth and enjoyed playing sports. Jones was an avid Houston Sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Texans, Rockets, and Astros. He had a knack for remembering sports statistics. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Odell Perkins, and brother, Claude Perkins Jr., He is survived by his brothers, Frederick Perkins, and Jeffery Perkins both of Houston, Texas; one sister, Katheryn V. Perkins also of Houston, Texas; His loving wife of 48 years, Dianne Perkins of Katy, Texas and their three children: Felicia D. Witt ( Husband, Kurt Witt), Jaye L. Perkins, Candice O. Wooley (Husband, Columbus Wooley) and ten grandchildren: Allison, Ashton and Addison Witt, Janeisha, Jaye Jr., Cam’ron, Caelyn and Noah Perkins; Chase and Cruze Wooley. and a host of loving In - Laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other cherished relatives and friends.
