Jose Manuel Herrera, our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on April 19, 2016. Born in Galveston, Texas to Donaciano and Aurora (Rodriguez) Herrera. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U S Army. Jose was graciously recognized by the Houston Police Department as the 1000th officer and he worked many years for General Electric. Preceding him in death are his wife Gloria; his parents and one son, Ralph Herrera. Cherishing his memory are his children, Cynthia Walters and husband Samuel, Martha Pruse and husband Eugene, David Herrera and wife Lisa, Deborah Herrera Melton and Husband Kenneth; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Susan Herrera Buckholt; brother, Rudy Herrera.
Visitation 5:00p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016 and the funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23 2016 both at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral service at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
