

Joseph was born on January 26, 1934, in Houston, Texas to Sam and Frances Musachia. After graduating from St. Thomas High School in 1953, he started working for the family business. In 1955, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. In 1957 during his military service, he married Virginia Marie Turano, and they lived together on Oahu before moving back to Houston. Together they raised four children.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Virginia, their children, Samuel and wife, Rosanne, Joseph Jr., Frances and husband, Louis, and Jack and wife, Shellie, grandchildren, Kristina, Sabrina, Ashley, Lauren, Dominic and Joseph. He also leaves to cherish his memory his nephew, Sammy Musachia and niece, Mary Sager.
Joseph worked for many years as a registered sanitarian for the City of Houston and Montgomery County before retiring in 2005. He also worked part-time in security at the Houston Astrodome where he enjoyed meeting celebrities and sports figures including Elvis, Cher, and George Strait. He was fortunate enough to play a small acting role in the movie, “Murder at the World Series” which was filmed in the Astrodome.
He enjoyed watching western movies and collecting collie books by Albert Payson Terhune. He also had a love for “candy apple red” cars. He was a Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral and a member of the Sacred Heart Society.
He always looked forward to the St. Thomas High School’s annual “Good Ol’ Boys” luncheons as well as keeping up with his classmates year-round.
A service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 10 am in the Grand Chapel at Forest Park Lawndale. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be directed to the Sisters of Divine Providence in San Antonio, Texas. The sisters operated Moye Military Academy in Castroville where Joseph attended grade school for a couple of years.
