Juanita R Rodriguez

Juanita 'Rebecca' Rodriguez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to The Lord on May 15, 2026, at the age of 90. A native Houston, our beloved mother was born July 22, 1935, to Eliseo and Abigail Bernal. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Richard Rodriguez, Sr. for more than 55 years until his passing in 2011 at age 74.

Mom never learned to drive, but managed to travel all over Houston with friends and family or by city bus. She was a fixture of the Near North Side neighborhood and was a long-time member of the Young at Hearts Club at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family playing gin rummy and watching the Game Show Network and Law & Order. She loved dancing at family gatherings and was always up for a trip to the casino or wearing a fun Halloween costume. Her love of life will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved her.

Mom was a breast cancer survivor and suffered a medical setback last year. Since then, she has been cared for by her loving children. Even then, she didn't lose her sense of fun or let it dampen her personality.

Mom is preceded in death by her parents, Eliseo and Abigail Bernal, along with 5 sisters, 3 brothers and one great-grandchild, Jacob Gallegos.

Left to cherish her memory are five sons and one daughter, Richard (Erlinda), David (Maria), Bertha (Uwe), Rene (Oskar), Marcus (Norma) and Lee Alan. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, as well as many loving relatives and friends. She will be remembered forever in our hearts.

Visitation will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, US, on May 25, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will take place at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, US, on May 26, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by a Committal Service at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, US, on May 26, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm.
