Julia Valdez Garcia

Julia Valdez Garcia, age 81, went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2017. She was born in Bryan, TX and an only child of Telesforo and Eva Garza Valdez. She received her GED and attended University of Houston- Downtown to continue her education. She later married Marion Sarabia Garcia of Bryan, TX and had 3 children: Richard, Eva and Mario.

Julia's most rewarding career was that of a 50's homemaker and later helped her husband in becoming a barber/hair stylist for their own business in the Meyerland area in Houston, TX. She later became a bilingual translator for the municipal courts of Houston. However, her greatest desire was to become a teacher and therefore inspired her only daughter to carry on that passion. She ended her career days teaching immigrants English in Bryan, TX. Julia lived her life as a devout Christian woman, faithful church attendee and a prayer warrior for her loved ones. Although she endured two knee replacements, this did not inhibit her in any way as she still enjoyed life doing what she loved most: cooking, baking, speaking at women's retreats, singing and dancing joyfully. She was an Earthmother and foster mother to many children throughout her life. She spent her quiet moments as an avid reader and prolific writer, always journaling her thoughts. She lived a wholesome life giving back until the end of her days.

Julia is survived by her loving son, Richard Garcia and wife, Sharon; son, Mario Garcia and wife, Bonnie; daughter, Eva Helen Garcia; grandchildren, Ricky, Dane, Christina, Jeffrey, Analisa, Freddie, Robert, Jennifer and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Alexa, Tristan, Robert Jr., Nicholas, Mariah, Trae, Robert Jack and a host of other family and friends.

A visitation for Julia will be held Sunday, July 2nd, 2017 from 2:00p.m.-5:00p.m. at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, TX 77060. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 3, 2017 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home at 10:00a.m. following with the graveside at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Fwy, Houston, TX 77039.
