Julie was born in Vietnam and at the tender age of two, her family escaped the turmoil of the Vietnam War by fishing boat. They were rescued by an American Navy ship and taken to Guam as refugees, eventually settling in Houston, where she grew up. She pursued her education at Texas A&M, majoring in psychology.
In 1997, Julie married her husband, John Wood, in England. They later moved to New York, where they raised their two daughters, Jasmine, now 20, and Phoebe, now 13. In 2018, Julie and her family relocated to Texas to be closer to her parents, Rose Vu and Xuyen Hoang, and her siblings, Elaine Hoang, Thien Hoang, Hoan Hoang, and Uyen Hoang.
Julie had a successful career in accounting before she and her husband launched a software business in 2004. She diligently managed operations, general administration, and accounting for the company.
She cherished camping, hiking, and road trips, and had a passion for crocheting, cooking, and discovering new restaurants and places. Julie was known for her kind-hearted nature, always respectful and accommodating to others. Her optimistic outlook and child-like wonder inspired those around her. She was deeply devoted to her faith in Jesus, which gave her strength and courage through life's challenges.
In her final days, Julie expressed peace and comfort, reassuring her loved ones with the words, "Don't worry about me. Don't be sad." Her legacy of bravery and faithfulness will continue to inspire all who knew her, and her memory will be eternally cherished by her family and friends.
