

K.O. (Kermit) Lenert went peacefully to meet his Lord on August 5, 2012. He was born October 17, 1925 in Oldenburg, Texas to Selma M. and Leslie G. Lenert. K.O., a fourth generation Texan, moved to Houston in 1943. During World War II, he proudly served in the Third Army, Fourth Armored Division under General George Patton.
He retired from Shell Development after 25 years as an Instrument Technician. K.O.’s mechanical abilities were legendary, being able to repair or build any metal device or part.
K. O. is survived by his loving wife, Ruby Werner Lenert of 66 years. He is also survived by his son Charles Lenert and wife Cheryl of Hockley; daughter Susan Vanderworth and husband Eddie; six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, August 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Waltrip Funeral Directors. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:30 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 1353 Witte Road, Houston, 77055. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Houston National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friends of the Spring Branch Library, 930 Corbindale Rd., Houston, TX 77024.
