Mississippi. She spent most of her childhood in Chicago, IL.
She loved basketball and everything about sports. Her athleticism was only matched by her winning personality and charm. Affectionately known as “Sunshine”. She had a vibrant personality. Lakisha graduated from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, in December 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism. During her time at Lincoln University, she was on the Dean’s List for 3 years and participated in pageants, dance team and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.
She was outspoken, fearless, and never hesitated to passionately defend against
injustice. After graduating from college, she relocated to San Antonio, TX, and later to Houston, TX,
where she made her life’s work caring for underserved communities. Despite her journalism degree,
she worked at jobs caring for the needs of others. She strove for excellence in her career as evidenced
by the many accolades and promotions she received. She worked as a community advocate and
liaison for the city of Houston; and then as a claims adjuster for Arthur J. Gallagher insurance
company.
She married Freddie Davis II on January 29, 2011. From that union they had two children,
Freddie III and Farrah. Kisha was fiercely protective of her children and affectionately referred to
Freddie III as “Man Man”. She was his biggest cheerleader. You could always hear her cheering and
coaching him from the sidelines. She also took great pride in dressing her precious Farrah like a little
girl in dainty colorful outfits. When she would call her out, no one could say “Farrah” the way Kisha
could. Her nurturing was not limited to her children. Family was important to Kisha. She cherished
her mother, Diane, who she always checked on and did everything she could to make sure her mom’s
needs were met. She was very close to her sister, Patrice. As children, Patrice shadowed her older
sister. She never missed a day talking to her brother, Marqule. And she was never too busy to check
in on her nieces and nephews despite the miles between them. Lakisha was saved at an early age and
loved the Lord. She sang joyfully in the church choir as a member of Refuge Tabernacle.
She is preceded in death by maternal grandmother Doris Calvin; paternal Willie and Henretta
Robinson.
She is survived by her spouse Freddie Lee Davis, II and her children Freddie Lee Davis, III
