Larry Parker passed away peacefully on September 22 in his home in Spring, Texas. Larry was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 10, 1950, and was the eldest of six brothers. He worked as a stonemason for nearly forty years and was an avid gardener of fruits and vegetables. He had an almost encyclopedic knowledge, which he loved to share in conversation in his typical modest fashion.
Larry enjoyed traveling. One of his greatest adventures was his time spent hiking the Appalachian Trail. He wooed his soon-to-be wife Clara from the trail, sending letters and keepsakes. Larry and Clara were married for 21 years.
Larry was preceded in death by his daughter, Bonnie Parker and by his brothers Gary Parker of Columbia, Tennessee (survived by wife, Elizabeth) and Courtney Parker of Millersburg, Pennsylvania (survived by wife, Lynette). Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Clara; brothers Floyd Parker of San Juan, Texas; Ernest Parker and wife, Bonnie, of Chapmansboro, Tennessee; Edwin Parker and wife, Amy, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; aunt Betty Parker of Nashville, Tennessee; uncle John Bentle of Cottontown, Tennessee; children Tennille Benson and T.J. Green; grandchildren Brandon Benson, Derek Benson, Luke Green, and Nora Green; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at 2:00, September 29, 2023 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home at 13102 North Freeway, Houston, Texas 77060.
