Lawrence Neal Meyer, a beloved resident of Houston, Texas, passed away on September 2, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on February 11, 1937, Lawrence grew up in Port Isabel, Texas, where he spent his formative years.
Lawrence was a devoted and hard-working man who enlisted with the U.S. Air Force as a Small Arms Instructor. He was stationed at Lakeland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and served honorably during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge in 1960. After his military service, he continued his career and retired from Oteco in 2002.
In 1975, Lawrence married Mary, embracing the role of stepfather. He was a faithful and kind-hearted family man, known for his gentle and patient nature. Lawrence loved Lynn, his grandchildren and great-grandchild as his own, regardless of blood relation, leaving a legacy of love and unity.
Outside of his family life, Lawrence had a passion for woodworking and was actively involved in the community. He was a dedicated member of Bethel Baptist Church until his health declined.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Naomi Watkins Meyer Martens and Henry Guido Meyer; his brother, LeRoy Edwin Meyer; his half-brother, James Christopher Martens Jr.; and his wife, Mary Meyer. He is survived by his sister, Rotha LaVerl Meyer Burks; his half-sister, Susan Carol Martens Brandmeir; his daughter, Lynn Naranjo; his grandchildren, Jason Bryant (Nancy), Jaimie Deluna, and Jonathon Naranjo (Michelle); and his great-grandchildren, Tyler Dixon, Ashlyn Dixon, Jackson Bryant, Addison Bryant, Avery Bryant, Elyzah Deluna, Ellie Naranjo, Mary Naranjo, and Tobias Naranjo.
Visitation will be held on September 15, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Earthman Resthaven, located at 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. The funeral service will follow at the same location from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Committal will take place at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
Pallbearers will include Jason Bryant, Jonathan Naranjo, Tyler Dixon, Ashlyn Dixon, Jackie Bryant, Addie Bryant, Avery Bryant, and Elyzah Deluna.
Lawrence Neal Meyer will be remembered for his devoted service, kind-hearted spirit, and the love he shared with his family and community.
