Leon Calvert Bay passed away on August 5, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on October 26, 1938, in Houston, Texas. Leon graduated in 1957 from Lutheran High School of Houston. Leon was a faithful, hard-working and honest man.
Leon served in the Army Reserves and worked as a construction worker. He married Elsa on August 17, 1968, and together they raised three children: Cammie, Hugh, and Vicki. Leon was a devoted family man, blessed with 7 grandchildren.
He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church and enjoyed a variety of personal interests and hobbies, including hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors, and gardening.
Leon is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Ida Bay, his wife Elsa Bay, his brother Jack Luedke, and brother in laws George Cardiff and David Free. He is survived by his children, Cammie Howard, Hugh (Tracey) Myers, Vicki (Greg) Chase; Grandchildren, Amber, Jason, Andrew, Crystal, Jordin, Garrett and Baylee; Brothers and sisters, Alby Cardiff, Rosean Stewart, Jean Luedke, Curtis (Shelia) Luedke, Virginia Free, Russell (Glynda) Luedke; 10 great children and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Earthman Resthaven, located at 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060, on August 11, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, and a Committal Service from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm at the same location.
Pallbearers will include Ronald Luedke, Doug Hirsch, Craig Cardiff, Garrett Chase, Chance Smith, Jason Love, Andrew Myers, and Colton Abernathy.
Leon will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
