Praying for peace and comfort for Paula and family.  My daylilly loving mama and I had the pleasure of touring the Payne's garden.  I'm sure that Leon, Myron and my mama are enjoying a great garden in Heaven. 

Leon sure was a dependable guy. Things that would bother others never seemed to bother him.  He was unflappable when things didn't seem to go right.  He made a great contribution to NASA.

As an usher at my wedding in 1967, Leon arrived an hour early because he forgot to change his watch from daylight savings.  He overcame that, but when my mother-in-law’s twin sister arrived, he didn’t want to seat her because he thought she was the mother of the bride.  Leon took everything in stride and we all had a good laugh later…he was always fun to be around.  

From college, to NASA, and into retirement Leon always had a kind word and was ready to help in any way that he could. He made the world a better place and we will all miss him.  My deepest sympathies to Paula and the family…  My heart goes out to you all.

Leon Loved all his daylilies in his beautiful garden.  He taught me about daylilies when I first started growing daylilies I learned from his kind words and wise teaching . I will  remember Leon as I work in my daylily garden . May he rest in Heavenly Peace . We  pray in honor of  his family .

Leon was a mentor to many Daylily members. I was always impressed with his seedlings - a man of genius and truly talented.  May He Rest In Peace and may God hold him in the palm of his hands .

A friend from Pearland and I met Leon and Paula through our appreciation of daylilies.  We visited their lovely garden for several years - it was one of the highlights of our spring to visit and see rows of beautiful, well kept flowers.  Leon was gracious, knowledgeable, and patient with our many questions.  I still have his lilies blooming in my garden.  It was a pleasure to make his acquaintance - he will be missed and remembered.
