Leonard Smith Jr.

Leonard Ray Smith Jr, Known as “Big Wayne” was born Aug 19,1969 to Leonard R. Smith Sr and Pauline Smith in Houston, Tx. He was preceded in death by his mother. Wayne was also preceded in death by his bonus parents Uncle Leon Tom Dancy and Aunt Priscilla Dancy-Payton.

Leonard passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025 after a lengthy illness. He was a loving soulmate, brother, father, grandfather and dear friend to many.

Wayne grew up on the Southside of Houston and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. He was known for his warm smile, gentle demeanor and unwavering generosity.

Wayne worked as a travel oil technician for 25 years, where he was respected for his dedication and hard work. He approached every task with diligence and integrity, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with him.

In his free time Wayne enjoyed Fishing and Cooking, finding solace and joy in the simple moments spent with his family and friends. He was an avid fisherman.

Wayne will be dearly missed by his beloved soulmate Yolanda, his Sister [Michelle Smith-Drake] children [Joshua & Unique Smith] grandchildren, extended family and friends. He touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly for his kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit.
