

Lila Louise Ledford Hughes of Houston, Texas passed away on Tuesday, the 21st of January at the age of 94. She was born on June 10,1930 in Buladean Community, Mitchell County, North Carolina where she grew up.
On October 24, 1946, Lila and Garfield J. Hughes eloped to Gaffney, South Carolina, where they were married. They had three sons Alan Garfield Hughes, Kenneth Dean Hughes, and Michael Gary Hughes while Garfield was in the. Army. After Garfield was discharged out of the Army, they lived a short time in Maryland and then in 1955 wanting to start a new life, they moved to Houston, Texas.
In 1972 they opened Hughes Motor Corporation, an automotive repair shop that specialized in Rolls Royce automobiles where she was the office manager. They were actively involved in the Rolls Royce Owner’s Club. In 2015 they retired.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Garfield Hughes; by her parents, Clingman Ledford and Lillian Street Ledford; her son, Kenneth Dean Hughes; her two sisters, Georgia Howes and Bonnie Forbes; and her brother, Buster Ledford; three grandsons, Alan Garfield Hughes, Jr, Kenneth Dean Hughes, Jr, and Travis Neal Hunold Jr.
She is survived by her two sons Alan Hughes, and his wife, Diane Hughes and her other son Michael Hughes She is also survived by two granddaughters Laura Jankowski and spouse David Jankowski, and Tarah Brown and spouse Terryl Keith Brown, and she is also survived by one grandson Gary Dean Hughes, and spouse Amanda Hughes, and daughter-in-law Cynthia Hughes. She is also survived by nieces Amanda Curbo, Brenda Hughes, Elizabeth Anthony, Dorothy Bruce, Sabra Fogle, and other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by 5 great-grandsons and 5 great-granddaughters and 17 great, great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Pallbearers are Grandson - Gary Hughes, Great Grandsons - Zachary Hughes, Jacob Munoz, Palmer Novecaski, Stephen Scarbrough Jr., and Shane Scarbrough
Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Forest Park Cemetery on Lawndale on Friday, January 31, 2025. Visitation with the family will begin at 5:00PM till 8:00PM.
Funeral Service will be at Forest Park Lawndale in Colonial Chapel on Saturday, February 1st, 2025. Doors open at 9:00AM. Chapel Service starts at 10:00AM.
Interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
