

Lillian Richards Woods was born on August 15, 1918 to the late Ned and Mary Richards in Simton,Texas. She attended school in “Round Botton”. She later met Sterling Woods Jr. and married him March 12, 1948, to this marriage comes two children, Carrie and Hardy.
She later moved to the Piney Point Community and joined Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. C.G. Wilkins. She was the active member of the Naomi Rebecca Circle, Usher Board I, and the Eastern Star. She was also the recipient of the Pioneer Historian Award in 2011. She was the mother of the church and recieved the mother of the year award. She instilled the love of God in her family, she remained a faithful member until her health declined, even then she would instruct her grandchildren to go to church and bring her a program back. She was known as the “Champ of Arc Street”, due to her house being the only house surrounded by businesses.
She is preceded in death by both parents, husband Sterling Woods Jr., children Carrie Roberts and Hardy McNeal, one granddaughter Evelyn, all of her siblings and several nieces and nephews.
She leaves to cherish her legacy son in law Luther Sr., grandchildren Ruby (Freddie), Lillian, Mary, Johanna (Alan), Freddie, David (Francis), Robert, and Luther Jr (Sandra). 16 Great grandchildren, 28 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
