Lionel is survived by his wife, Lupe Peña. In addition to his wife he is survived by his four children: Herlinda (Tony) Hernandez, Ramona Peña Gomez, Lupita (Amado) Saldivar, Lionel (Cindy) Peña. Grandchildren (14): Elizabeth Winton, Marco Hernandez, Daniella Hernandez, Jason Hernandez, Jeremy (Victoria) Hernandez, Michelle Lira (ᶧ), Nicole Lira (Alex) Gomez, Mia Gomez, Mercedes Guerrero, Amado Saldivar Jr., Jose Saldivar, Lionel (Lisa)Peña, Mariah Peña, Nevaeh Peña. Great-Granchildren (9): James Winton, Paloma Winton, Khloe Hernandez, Lilliana Hernandez, Jeremiah Gomez, Camila Gomez, Lionel S. Peña, Lilah Peña and Lisa Peña,

Born in Bishop, TX lived in Kingsville, TX and moved to Houston, TX at the age of 13 years old. He met his bride of 60 years and together had 4 children. Lionel was a machinist by trade, jack of all trades – master of fatherhood. He loved life, his wife, children, son’s in law, daughter in law, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a man of great faith and respect for the Lord.

He had classic cars and enjoyed working on them and crusin’. He loved going to swap meets and flea markets. He often grabbed the family and made day long road trips to Flatonia, San Antonio and Kingsville.

He enjoyed music of all genres but his favorite was Tejano music. He loved when the seasons changed and leaves fell from the trees and floated in the air. He loved the smell of the soil after the rain. To see all nature sprout as the spring came about.

Lionel Peña was a remarkable man, a loving husband and father. He will be missed immensely and loved forevermore!

Visitation for Lionel Peña will be held Friday, March 12, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with Pastor Johnny Teague presenting a celebration of life sermon at 6:00pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.

Funeral service will take place Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 2:00 PM followed by interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
