

Lucille Crapitto Trapolino, age 93, peacefully passed away on March 6, 2011. She was a native Houstonian born on July 6, 1917. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jerome Trapolino, parents Josie (Loverde) and Sam Crapitto, and sister Mary Ann Naylor. She graduated from Incarnate Word Academy where she began her special friendship with the Sisters of the Incarnate Word & Blessed Sacrament. She worked in Dr. Louis Crapitto’s front office where she met the love of her life, Jerome, and they married on October 3, 1943. Together they raised their two daughters, Mary Ann and Gerry. Lucille shared Jerome’s love of baseball and softball and she could often be found in the bleachers cheering him along in his softball career. She loved to travel and accompanied Jerome on many business trips but her favorite destination was Manhattan with museums and shopping on her agenda. She was an avid reader and cat lover, but most importantly, a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Lucille was the epitome of elegant beauty, grace and kindness. She had a deep spirituality and her faith in God sustained her throughout her life. She prayed the rosary daily and had a special devotion to St. Joseph. Lucille was a member of the Tapawingo Club and the ladies of the Sacred Heart. The family would like to sincerely thank her health caregivers: Barbara Causey, Janet Collins, Cynthia Fisher, Raye Hogan, and Faye Scott. They each provided devoted assistance and loving care in Lucille’s latter years. Lucille is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann and husband Ray Slaughter, daughter Gerry and husband Larry Wilson, brother Tony Crapitto and sister-in-law Trudy Crapitto, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation is on Thursday, March 10, 2011, 5pm – 8pm . Rosary will be held at 5:00 pm that evening. Funeral Mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell, Houston, Texas 77007 at 10:30 am, on Friday, March 11, 2011. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Incarnate Word Academy, 609 Crawford St., Houston, TX 77002.
