

Baguio City, Philippines native Luz Delizo Barber recently passed away on Sunday August 12, 2018 at Hermann Memorial Hospital Greater Heights in her adopted city of Houston. Mrs. Barber or Manang Luz as she was fondly called by her students, friends and acquaintances, was a retired mathematics teacher in the Houston City Schools. Prior to immigrating to the United States in 1999 she taught mathematics at University of Baguio Commerce Department, Science High School and Prep-High and in high schools in Rota and Saipan, in the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands. She was loved and respected by her many students across the globe. She faithfully attended Pentecostal Christian Church services in Houston. She was born in Baguio City to Laureano and Dolores Cachero Delizo of Naguilian, La Union, Philippines on March 18, 1951, and she attended Baguio Central School and University of Baguio Science High School. Later, she earned two bachelors degrees at the University of Baguio and a master’s degree in statistics at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and youngest sister Marjorie. She was also preceded in death by her first husband Gerard Feliciano of Salinas, Cavite and her second husband Rickey Wayne Barber of Houston, Texas. She is survived by her five brothers and sisters, Henry Delizo of Maryland, USA; Delfin Delizo of Brisbane, Australia; Rufina Delizo Rice of Rhode Island, USA; Nestor Delizo of Chicago, USA and Caroline Delizo of Baguio City. A memorial burial service and gathering of family and friends will be held in Baguio City in the upcoming months. The exact date will be announced at a later date. May She Rest in Peace.
