I met Lydia more than 30 years ago. We we were planning a Missionary trip with  Fr. Ian Kubisa to Zambia. Lydia traveled all the way to Africa to help the people who has very Little and Lydia gave her best to share her faith and her love for Jesús, as always did.
As we built a friendship in Houston, Lydia became a Secular Discalced Carmelite making her final Promise to our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Lydia Is one of the Founders of Carmelite Study Group at St Therese Church in Houston. 
Lydia traveled un Pilgrimages to Jerusalén and to Medjugory. Always leaving an example of love and charity, that was her legacy.
We are already missing Lydia and we ask her to
Intercede for us with God almighty. Lydia, you are an example for all of us! We are very grateful to count you as our friend!

To my beloved mother.  Though you are gone, I know you’ll be looking down on me and my children and their children.  I can’t undo the last year of you being so far away  from my family but I’ll try to go on with much happy memories.  I’ll remember our trip to Puerto Rico, my birthplace and where your precious brother Teddy lived.  I know you loved me deeply and forgive me for not always being loving to you.

 I’ll cherish each call and how you would say you missed me and that it’s okay to sleep on my floor because of my lack of room,  You raised your children the best you could.  I loved all your special meals you made for us.  You weren’t afraid of death and you actually looked forward to being in heaven.  I know your granddaughter Valerie who you gave the name to on her birth as you stood by my side on her delivery. You also drive from Kentucky to Spicewood after the birth of Clinton to help me out. Also the time you drive from Houston to Spicewood when I was fearful and taken to the ER with a serious lung condition.  I am sorry that I missed being with you at the end but I know you forgive me.  I’ll cherish every moment we shared.  I love you my Puerto Rican momma!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
