

Marshall Gilbert Clark was born on November 2, 1919, in Houston, Texas and passed away on October 2, 2012 at home. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Virginia, and his children, Shannon (Don) Curry and Kevin (Carolyn) Clark, and grandchildren, Michael Curry, Christopher and Kyle Clark. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Ray and Dorothy Haver Clark and his siblings, Robert Jo Clark, Dorothy Rhea Crawford and Terrence Glenn Clark.
Gilbert grew up on DeGeorge Street in Norhill. He graduated from Reagan High School and in 1942 joined the United States Coast Guard. He served on the East Coast, and excelled in sharp shooting at the Great Lakes Gunnery School. He spent two years at the Coast Guard Station in Grand Marais, Michigan where he made many life long friends and was discharged in 1946.
Back home, he met and married Virginia Dale Lang on October 6, 1948 beginning a long and loving relationship that lasted just four days shy of sixty-four years. Another long lasting facet of his and Virginia’s lives was a friendship with five other couples known as “the Poker Players.” He is also survived by many loving and loved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
