Manuel C. Moctezuma was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Cresencio Moctezuma Tovar and Maria Carrillo Gamboa, on March 31, 1932. In 1933, the family moved to Jerez, Zacatecas. They later moved to Comales, Tamaulipas, then to Puebla, Puebla. The family finally settled in El Campesino, near Diaz Ordaz, Tamaulipas, where he worked on his family’s ranch. This is where he met Rosalba Garcia. They married on October 8, 1961 in Diaz Ordaz, Tamaulipas. The family grew to be a family of five. Manuel Jesus Moctezuma was born in Diaz Ordaz, Tamaulipas. They moved and settled in Houston in 1963, where Alicia Moctezuma and Rosalba Moctezuma were later born.
Manuel worked full time for the City of Pasadena for over 25 years. In addition to this, he worked simultaneously for One Shell Plaza (downtown building) for over 15 years. He retired at the age of 56 years old. Since his retirement, he and Rosalba resided in their home in Diaz Ordaz, Tamaulipas, like they always dreamed of doing. They traveled to and from Houston, as they wished, until their last trip, which took place in December 2019.
Manuel truly lived life to the fullest, every day. He was very attentive to wife and he very gracefully shared the responsibilities at home by being a helping hand. At gatherings or special events, it was very likely to see him dancing with his wife. Especially if the song, “Gema” was played, since this was a song that he dedicated to her since they began dating. He enjoyed spending time with family. He was always a big fan of boxing. He enjoyed watching sports and action movies with Luis Enrique, his son-in-law, even if Luis Enrique fell asleep before the game was over. He even played video games like Tekken, Mortal Combat, Pac Mac, Donkey Kong, etc. with his grandchildren. He will always be remembered for being an exemplary husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He can best be described as very hardworking, respectful, patient, and loving to everyone around him. His presence, style, playful personality, and humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He unexpectedly passed on January 8, 2020, surrounded by his immediate family.
