

Margaret Helen Cullen Shea, known affectionately as "Grammy," went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2024, in Pasadena, Texas, at the age of 78. She was born in Borger, Texas, on August 23, 1945, to Dr. Reverend Paul B. Cullen and Margaret Evelyn Cullen.
Margaret's life was marked by her devotion to her family, her faith, and her community. She attended Cage Elementary and Stonewall Jackson Junior High, followed by Stephen F. Austin High School where she was Top Sergeant in the Bagpipe Corps of the Scottish Brigade. She furthered her education at the University of Houston, earning a bachelor's degree in Psychology.
She married Michael Shea on March 24, 1967, which whom she had three children. Margaret was heavily involved with the Boy Scouts, volunteering her time as a Den Mother with the local troop and going to Jamborees. She was a delegate to several Republican state conventions, and was a census taker in 1980.
Her professional life started at a law firm where she worked her way up to become Manager of the Typing Department. Later at Lockheed Martin, she trained the staff on how to use computers, and in the twilight of her career, she helping families find homes as a realtor. Being quiet and shy by nature, she preferred solitary activities such as reading, sewing, arts and crafts, playing the piano, and solving sudoku and crossword puzzles.
From an early age, Margaret was deeply involved in her local church, actively participating in Lawndale Ave Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Friendswood where she sang in the choir. She loved teaching the JOY Sunday School class, sharing her life and love with all who attended her class. She adored her four grandchildren and would often drive hundreds of miles to pick up her youngest for the weekend.
She is survived by her children, David Lawrence Shea, Christine Elizabeth Shea, and Patrick Michael Shea (Margo Russell); grandchildren Katelyn Rebecca Shea, Ashley Nicole Konrad (Dustin), Liam Jacob Shea, and Ava Silverleaf Shea; sister Susan Grace Cullen; and sister-in-law Dr. Catherine Shea; nieces Marney Lynn Cullen (John), Amy Elisabeth Cullen Madison, and nephew Andrew David Cullen (Kathy); and numerous grand nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Reverend Paul Bryan Cullen and Margaret Evelyn Cullen; brother David Paul Cullen; and sister-in-law Naomi Joyce Cullen. She was a most beloved mother, grandmother and aunt, she will be sorely missed.
The viewing will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 5 to 8 pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place on Friday, June 28th, 2024, at 9 am, followed by the Committal service at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Margaret’s name.
