

Maria De Jesus Arriaga (Jessie) (83) passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 10, 1933 in Hacienda La Ventilla Villa De Reyes, San Luis Potosi Mexico to Anacleto and Gerarda Salazar.
Jessie became a Houston resident in 1968 and proudly became a United States Citizen in 1996.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, volunteering at her church where she was a Parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church and St. Stephen Church, and collecting and reading her many religious books. She was an active member of Las Guadalupanas and Amigos de San Jose at her parishes. She was also an avid Houston Astros fan who enjoyed many games at the Astrodome and then Minute Maid Park.
Jessie attended Business Trade School in San Luis Potosi Mexico and worked as a supervisor for AASR, Inc., a pillow and fabric shop, for over 30 years in Houston.
She is preceded in death by her parents, younger brother Jose Carmen, her first born baby girl Maria Guadalupe Arriaga, and Bruno Flores her son in law.
Jessie leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband of 65 years, Jose Crescencio Arriaga, two daughters Blanca Arriaga Flores, and Pilar G. Lopez and her husband Amador Lopez Jr, four grandchildren: Teresa Valenzuela, Cathy Gamez, Andrea Rodriguez, Nicolas A. Lopez, eight great-grandchildren: Lucero Valenzuela, Emiliano Valenzuela, Matias Valenzuela, Benjamin Valenzuela, Eleanor Gamez, Dante Gamez, Audrey Rodriguez, Brandon Rodriguez, and two sisters, Maria del Rosario Gallardo, Maria del Socorro Melendez.
She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and godchildren and grandchildren whom she loved as her own.
