Born on May 22, 1931, in Artesia Wells, Texas, Concha lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and a love so deep it touched generations. She was a woman of unwavering character and quiet courage, someone who carried life’s burdens with grace and never hesitated to put her family first.
Her love was not just spoken—it was lived every single day. It was in the meals she prepared, the care she gave, the sacrifices she made, and the warmth she shared. To be loved by her was to feel safe, guided, and deeply cherished.
Maria found peace and joy in her garden, where she spent countless hours tending to her flowers. In many ways, her garden reflected her life—patiently nurtured, full of beauty, and rooted in love. Just as she cared for each plant, she lovingly raised and held together a family that would grow far beyond what she could have imagined.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Modesto G. Ortiz; her daughter, Blanca Estela Montemayor; her son, Cesar Modesto Ortiz; and her grandchildren, Carlos Alberto Ramirez and Michael Anthony Ortiz.
She leaves behind a remarkable legacy through her children: Irma A. Ledesma, Jose Antonio Ortiz, Elsa Quintanilla, Dora Ramirez, Concepcion Pesina, Nazaria Ortiz-Ramirez, Petra Ortiz-Guerra, Sonia Hernandez, Hilda Rosas, Rosalba Benavides, and Nora Elsa Castillo. She is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren—each one carrying a piece of her love, her strength, and her spirit.
Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her essence remains in every lesson she taught, every value she instilled, and every memory she gifted us. She was not just the heart of the family—she was its foundation.
A life like Concha’s reminds us that true wealth is not only measured in years, but in the love we give, the lives we touch, and the family we build. She showed us that strength can be gentle, that love can be unconditional, and that even in the simplest moments, we create legacies that live on forever.
She will be deeply missed, eternally loved, and forever remembered.
