

Marian Reine Koch, long time resident of Houston, TX, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Colonial Oaks in Pearland, TX. Marian was born on August 23, 1926 in Detroit, MI to Arthur and Anna Reine. She graduated from Milby High School at 16 but her Houston education began at Austin High School. One of her favorite topics was the 12 states she lived in growing up prior to arriving in Houston in April 1941. Marian attended Houston Business School after high school and began working in the Civil Department for several Assistant District Attorneys and later worked for County Judge Bob Casey before leaving work to raise a family. In 1982 she joined AAAA Printing and Mailing where she found herself surrounded by a new close group of lifetime friends.
Marian married Jimmy Jay Koch on September 12, 1947. Around eight months after their marriage, they bought a house in Garden Villas and Marian lived there until 2007. Besides being a devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed getting together with family, camping and spending time outdoors, especially while serving as a girl scout leader. She later took painting lessons in the community and that became her favorite hobby.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Koch, her son-in-law Tommy Costales, and her parents Arthur and Anna Reine. Marian is survived by her sister Dolores Pabor and brother Arthur Reine and wife Mildred. Her surviving children are Cindy Costales, Jimmy (and Kaelyn) Koch, and Tim (and Paula) Koch. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren – Jay (and Courtney) Costales, Les (and Lindsay) Costales, Jennifer (and Bill) Glas, Kelby Koch, Kelton Koch, Trevor Koch, and Marisa Koch along with 9 great grandchildren – Ava and Rozlyn Costales; Trent, Fox, and Lady Costales; Jennifer, Anna, Ryan, and Raven Glas.
Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on Sunday, May 8, 2016. The celebration of life service will be held at The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer at 5700 Lawndale, Houston, TX at 9:30am on Monday, May 9, 2016 with internment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery at 6900 Lawndale. Refreshments will be served at the church following the service.
