Marjorie was born in Houston Texas on December 24, 1925 to parents Edward Joseph Dujay and Eva Emma Walker Dujay. Marjorie grew up in Houston “East End” off of Harrisburg Boulevard on Avenue E. where she lived with mom, dad and two siblings who have all passed, Vivian and Leslie. For a while Marjorie’s grandparents, also lived in the household, Texas Emma Walker and Isac Jacob Walker (Jack). Marjorie attended and graduated from Austin High School in Houston Texas where she participated in the school’s Scottish Brigade.
At age of 18, Marjorie met the love of her life Paul, who was serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Balch, and was currently stationed out of San Diego, California. They married on April 18 1943. Marjorie and Paul resided in California for a while and eventually moved back to Houston, Texas. Marjorie and Paul raised five children, Paulette, Stephen, Edward, Craig, and Richard. The family primarily resided in the City of Spring Valley for 60 years and Marjorie and Paul were happily married for 63 years.
Marjorie was very active as a housewife and participated in all her children’s school and extracurricular activities, such as Parent Teachers Association, Brownie leader for the Girl Scouts, Den Mother for Cub Scouts and supported children in Boy Scout troop activities. Even if Marjorie didn’t volunteer to participate in extracurricular school activities, she was often volunteered by her two oldest children, Paulette and Stephen.
Marjorie was an avid gardener and won “first place” for her garden calla lily entry. Marjorie was an expert seamstress and, throughout the years, sewed much of the clothing for all the children. Marjorie taught Paulette (daughter), Teresa (niece) and two grandchildren, Rebecca and Samantha how to sew which was an art and skill enjoyed by all. Marjorie and Paul spent many of their later years babysitting, nurturing and guiding the development of their grandchildren while their parents were at work.
Marjorie spent many years as a caregiver for her husband Paul who was in ill health. This was a tribute to mom’s courage and nurturing spirit for their everlasting love. Marjorie expressed this tender and giving spirit that has touched all the family in their everyday lives. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul Emery Russell, and her son Craig Eugene Russell, DDS.
