Mary Bee Beona Hyde Ruple "Bee"

Mary Beona Hyde Ruple, or Bee as her friends knew her, passed away on August 23, 2011. She was a long time resident of the Houston Heights, a member of Baptist Temple, and belonged to The Houston Heights Women’s Club. Bee was married for 56 years to Prentiss E. Ruple who preceded her in death.

In her earlier years, she enjoyed oil painting, being a Cub Scout den mother, and was an avid gardener. Being an expert homemaker and having lived through the Great Depression, she became most resourceful and never threw anything away that she could use for creating something new for her household.

Nanny, as she was lovingly known by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially loved baking birthday cakes and maintaining the family birthday calendar. You could often find her entertaining the grandkids with stories of growing up in rural Arkansas.

Nanny is survived by her daughter, Linda June Martin; her son, Reid Eugene “Gene” Ruple; grandchildren, Cindy Martin and Raylene Teel, Elizabeth Martin and Greg Wray, Danny and Gayla Martin, Brad Martin, Eric Ruple, and Angela and Michael Jones; great grandchildren, Tadd Martin, Ethan Martin, Savanah Martin, Gibson Martin, Nicholas Martin, Gracie Ruple, Haley Jones, Paxton Jones, and Emerie Bee Jones; one special pup named Honey and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was loved by all who knew her and will be remembered fondly forever.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, August 25th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at Heights Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 26th at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Heights Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
