

On May 26, 1929 in Bellville Texas, Eddie Smith Sr. and Annie Osborn-Smith announced the birth of their second child whom they named Matilda Lee Smith. She attended Bellville High. She gave her life to Christ at an early age. She later joined Greater New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. H. L. Price; while there she served on the nurses’ board. Later she became a member of Calvary Lutheran Church under the leadership of Pastor Raymond Kahle, she was an active member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League in which she held positions as president, vice president and representative for the Houston zone. Sister Clemons was always in the kitchen helping serve at VBS and for the Calvary Lutheran Elementary School. She was a member of the Altar Guild and held duties that included money counter for many of years. It is now Living Water Community Church under Rev. Dr. Rodney Emilien. She later attended El Bethel Baptist Church. She worked many of years for Texas Instruments; Sears; then later retired at Houston ISD.Matilda married P.D. Randall, to their union one child. Later she married Melvin Clemons for 25 years until he went to be with the Lord. She became a mother to his children.When she was no longer active in her church duties, she never stopped praying, teaching, mentoring, counseling others and living the life of Christ before others.She was preceded in death by both Parents; Three brothers, Eddie Jr., Robert and Lonnie James; four sisters, Atherlene Monroe, Teautha Frazier, Louisa Gray and Willie Mae Williams.Left to cherish her memory are her children: Shirley Felder (Thurman Sr.), Royce Robinson (Josette); her grandchildren: Thurman Felder Jr. (Jacquelynne), Nastazia Edmonson; Great grandchild: Sydney Felder; two brothers Evine (Minnie Ola), Herbert (Barbara); three sisters Theda Joseph, Grace Nickerson, Ruby Edgley; Sister in-laws Shirley Tolbert, Joyce Cooper (Larry); Brother in-law Rev Rugley Monore Jr., Joseph Williams Sr., Homer Gray Sr. and Aaron Clemons; along with many other family members and friends
