

Mildred Inez Day Teets was born in Iola, Texas on January 30, 1927. She passed away peacefully at her home in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the age of 88. She is preceded in death by parents, Howell H. Day and Linnie Mae (Landers) Day; husband, Arnold Frederick Teets; son, Jimmy Lang Teets; sisters, Lucile Day Maynard and Melba Day Dulaney. Mildred is survived by her son, Randall Teets, of Houston, and granddaughter, Jennifer Teets, of Paris, France. Also surviving is her brother Carl Day and sister Dora Guerrero, sister in-law, Letha Bruner; brother in-law, Bill Maynard; niece, Cindy Maynard, nephews, Doug Otto, Gary Day; very special neighbours, Mary Lucas, Howard & Jeanette Moon, Nancy Roberts, Albert & Mary Schoellkopf, Andy & Josie Corolla and long lasting friend Marlene McLauren and the many Sunday school and Bible study members of Houston’s First Baptist and Lazybrook Baptist in her circle. Mildred was a long time dedicated employee of the historic Kaplan Ben Hur’s store in the Heights. In her lifetime, she was a Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Oak Forest Lodge. She was also enlisted as a volunteer at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Honorary pallbearers: Gary Day, Doug Otto, Jon Day, Kenneth Yeager, Craig Rosenbaum, and Henry Rosenbaum. Visitation will be held at 9am on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Houston’s First Baptist Worship Center. A memorial service and reception to follow. Graveside services will commence at 1:00pm at Memorial Oaks Cemetery at 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorials may be made to: University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030.
