

Myrtle Louise (Scott) Redus was born in Idabel, Oklahoma on Tuesday, March 2, 1915 to parents John Morgan Scott and Iva Myrtle (Calahan) Scott. She passed away in LaFollette, Tennessee on Monday, June 6, 2016 at the age of 101.
Myrtle graduated from High School in Idabel, Oklahoma in 1931. She went on to graduate in 1934 from Parkland Hospital Nursing School in Dallas, Texas, earning a Registered Nursing Degree. She married John Cleveland Redus on Wednesday, December 25, 1935 at Gaston Ave. Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
Myrtle was a member of the First Christian Church of Katy, Texas, where she was and Elder Emeritus. She was also a member of The Love Chapter of the United Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Edwin Waller Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, John and Iva Scott; by John, her beloved husband of more than 50 years; her grandchildren, Jerome Lee Kelly and Harold Wayne Kelly; a brother, John Harral and wife Gwendolyn Scott. She is survived by her son, John Cleveland Redus, Jr. and wife Dana (Kelly) Redus; her daughter, Frances Ann (Redus) Miller and husband David C. Miller; a sister, Frances Elizabeth Scott Greene of Beaumont, Texas; her grandchildren, Anna Elizabeth Kelly, Katherine Miller and husband Nathan Woodard, Elizabeth Paige Miller, and by her great granddaughter, Mckenzie Miller, as well as many nieces, nephews and several dear friends.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate this wonderful woman's life at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016 in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, Texas, where funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by graveside services and interment in Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, also in Houston.
