Nadine Sue Kujawa passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021, at the age of 80.
Nadine graduated from Aldine H.S. in 1959 and then attended Sam Houston State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Teaching in 1962. The same year, she began her career in Aldine ISD as a teacher at Oleson Elementary. In 1967, Nadine received her Master of Education degree from the University of Houston. During her tenure in Aldine ISD, she served in many roles including Assistant Principal, Principal, Director of Personnel, Assistant Superintendent of Personnel, Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources and Instruction, Deputy Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction and in 2001, Superintendent of Schools. Nadine was the first woman to hold the position of Superintendent in Aldine ISD. She was committed to the staff and community of Aldine, but the students of Aldine always remained at the heart of her tenure. She led with compassion and high expectations for all and kept student achievement at the forefront. She retired in 2007 after serving 42 years in the district. After retirement, Nadine regularly attended school events and activities, parent and community events, performances, and graduations. She enjoyed volunteering for various organizations and groups in her community, and particularly enjoyed serving as a CCE teacher at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. One of her most treasured activities was to read to the students at Kujawa Primary and Kujawa Elementary on a monthly basis.
Nadine was a beloved wife to Harry Kujawa. They were married on December 10, 1965 and were happily married for 55 years. She was also a devoted mother and grandmother who loved reading, crocheting and cooking for her family, especially around the holidays. She loved decorating for Thanksgiving and Christmas and never met a Christmas decoration or Christmas wreath she didn’t like. She was also an avid gardener, LOVED flowers, and enjoyed keeping a well-manicured yard. Her most recent project was raising and taking care of her chickens at her home in Bellville.
Nadine is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Ella Jaster. She is survived by her husband, Harry Kujawa, daughters, Christine Kujawa and Karen Baker; stepson, Randall Kujawa, her grandsons, Seth and Cody Baker, and her brother, Kenneth Jaster.
